never heard of that; my microphone has quit working recently (well, the jack or the sound card), dunno exactly what's wrong with that and have never been able to get it fixed. would it work if i just got another sound card and used it just for the mic?

if the mic still works elsewhere then there probably is a problem with the sound card and it just might make sense to replace it

well the best way i have found is that i have bought 3 1m extension cables one for mic,line out,line in that way ur not unpluggin the cables directly from the sound card u c so it avoids the static
